One year later, Chelsea Piers CT has proven to be the model of a successful sports and entertainment complex, warmly welcomed and embraced by the surrounding community.
Beginning with Summer Camp in July 2012, Chelsea Piers CT hit the ground running. Within the past year, additional programs continue to be added, including Softball Training, Field Hockey and Adult Sports Classes. Because of the facility’s capabilities, many sports organizations are choosing this complex to host their programs and events, both local and global. Noteworthy also is the quality of the instructors, many who are nationally and internationally recognized athletes.
The facility’s design and construction has won numerous awards, including the American Institute of Steel Construction’s Presidential Award of Excellence in Engineering and the National Council of Structural Engineers Association’s Award for Forensic / Renovation / Retrofit / Rehabilitation Structures. The resourceful design of the complex, as well as the sustainable reuse of materials and structure, has been widely recognized and honored as innovative and ecologically responsible.
