STAMFORD, CT – After closing its entrance on Washington Street in October 2007, the Stamford YMCA celebrated the opening of its Bell Street Entrance his spring with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Politicians, executives, and employees were present to participate in this event. The ceremony marked a new era for the downtown Stamford landmark.

The new lobby is the first milestone of the revitalized YMCA, as designed by JGRA. With the opening of the lobby, membership at the YMCA is now available in addition to the after school programs that the Y has continued to offer. New locker rooms, meeting spaces and a computer lab are soon to follow, tied to the success of the YMCA’s fundraising campaign. These design improvements will bring life and activity back to the center, which has been in the heart of Stamford for over 140 years.

The official reopening of the Stamford YMCA was scheduled for April 1. More information about the Y’s Renewed Promise Campaign can be viewed on the Stamford YMCA website.
