Rogers McCagg Architects, Planners, Interior Designers was established in 2016 when Chris McCagg, a long-time principal at James G. Rogers Architects, joined Jim Rogers as an owner of the firm. The name reflected Chris’ leadership role and the firm’s expanded scope of services.

Our History

The firm’s roots go back more than 40 years, when Jim Rogers, with partners Jonathan Butler and Charles Baskett, founded Butler Rogers Baskett Architects in New York City. Jim later established James G. Rogers Architects in Connecticut, which evolved into Rogers McCagg. In 2019, Jim retired, and Chris McCagg assumed full ownership, guiding the practice into its next chapter.

Our Practice

Rogers McCagg is led by Chris McCagg, supported by Principals Tony Panza, Suzanne Fandel, Mella Kernan and Michael Tierney. Together, our team offers Long Range Strategic Planning, Architecture, and Interior Design services with a balance of creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of client needs.

We are recognized as hospitality specialists in the niche luxury private club sector and similar volunteer-governed social and sporting organizations. This expertise, developed over decades of focused work, allows us to deliver thoughtful, high-impact design solutions tailored to these unique communities.

Our Approach

We are collaborators. Our best work comes from partnering with clients—listening closely, valuing every perspective, and shaping a shared vision. In the private club space, this means engaging boards, committees, and management to create designs that honor tradition while elevating the member experience.
